Red Velvet.. mission accomplished!

helo helo.. errkk.. kalau ada performance appraisal kat blog ni, sure markah i rendah2 ajer.. huhu

firstly, my apologies for not updating this blog.. couldnt find the time (alasan kesian)..

lets get to it.. Red Velvet.. uhh.. been wanting to try to make Red Velvet this whole time.. i searched and searched, i decided to go with Azlita's recipe. Believe it or not, my first try was a success.. but let me tell you about before i started to bake this cake..

Coloring.
i was skeptical about coloring.. iye lah, artificial colors amat2 menakutkan okey.. takut la ade side-effects. but if its not red, then it would not be called RED Velvet kan?
i wanted to use the Star Brand color, but some recipes i went thru, used gel coloring. so, i was left undecided.. huhu..
i remembered last time i ordered a RV cake was for my wedding. the baker used bit root, so the cake was naturally red.. hmm.. nnti bila ada masa i will google the recipe and give it a try. dont know where's the photo of the cake.. kalau jumpa i update kat sini lah.. huhu..
back to coloring.. finally i bought #Americolor Super Red and gave it a go..


amacam? cukup merah? red enuf? me happy.. love the color.. hihihiii

Frosting
RVs goes with cream cheese frosting/filling.. i was afraid to give it a try.. somehow, i always dont get the right texture or taste.
i WA a fellow baker i followed on IG, Fadli aka encikrabunjauh. he gave me his recipe. i tried and loved the recipe. worked so well. tq Fadli.


see.. not perfect, but i love love love it.. used star tip #1 for the rosettes.. tq again Fadli for buying me this..

i love how the RV cuppies turned out and tried to make a whole cake pulak..

 
brought this to the office and my officemates loved them.. the cake, the cream cheese.. it was a proud moment for me. hehehe.. 

then, i landed on a Naked Red Velvet order.. boy i was nervous like dot dot dot.. i'm ok with friends who order, but when someone i dont know, it freaks me out.. "what if she doesnt like it?", "what if i got a bad review?" cuak taw..


 alhamdulillah. customer loved it.. tq Zanariah :-)

so.. that's it about RV.. will update on more things happening when i can make the time..

LET'S GO BANANAssssss
 
a good friend of mine (from my office) loves cakes.. hmm.. desserts is more like it.. so, when she found out i can bake, she requested for orange cakes, banana cakes, carrot cakes.. i love it when she makes a request.. it means, i can bake, try out recipes & my skills, and i dont have to eat the cake all by myself.. i guess that's what any bakers go thru.. rasa bersalah tau makan kek banyak2 sorang2.. nnti gain weight, susah nak turun balik.. huhu..
 
anyways.. this time around, i baked Banana Cake with Choc Chips.. here, i'll share the recipe. it's so simple, that i dont need a mixer for this recipe and it works.. fluffy.. gebus gebas i alway say.. :-)
 

 

 
BANANA CUPCAKES
 
 
Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups plain flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarb of soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups mashed bananas ( approx. 4 medium bananas)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
Method:

Preheat oven to 180°C (fan forced).

In a medium sized mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, bicarb soda and salt and with a fork, mixt together until all combined, create a well in the centre.

Add the melted butter, eggs, banana and vanilla essence.

Stir through with fork until well combined.

Fill muffin pans with your cupcake papers, then spoon in the mixture until it reaches approx the half full.

Place in oven for 12-18 minutes until golden brown on top. Leave to cool.
 
 
 
 
i also baked for a friend whose been invited to open a booth during 1 of Le Tour D Langkawi on 2 March 2014. i baked 7 trays of brownies for her to bring to the event. gosh! 7 brownies in 1 nite.. i really need another oven.. i ended up sleeping at 3 am as i only started baking at 8pm (after coming home from work). i was worn out, of course.. anyways, i hoped everyone enjoyed the brownies..
 
 
 
 
my mission for March, learn to make pavlova and Red Velvet.. i definitely need to learn about cupcakes and decorating them.. geram betul tgk rosettes lawa2 kat IG baker2.. i nak buat jugakkkk.. huhuhu...


overdue post from February adventure (part 1)..

Assalamualaikum.. hello hello.. been keeping myself busy throughout February.. a new adventure for me, my sister and cousin. Yup, we opened a booth in Subang Parade. Thanks to Ayu of Sweet N Cozy for letting me have her booth on both 9 & 22 February 2014. We had a blast and so much fun. It was tiring, but worthwhile. The experience was unforgettable.

we made our 1st sale at 9a.m.. this lovely lady just came out from the gym and grab 4 boxes of our double choc brownies. i guess she was worn out from the work out.. hehe.. tq ma'am..

All in all, the sales were good, i met new customers. learnt a lot of new things too ie. managing my bakes before the bazaar starts.. i also learnt that i may need another oven which will help me save time from baking few trays at a time. still figuring out which oven though.. i'll share my thoughts in another entry.. till then..

February 2014

My oh my.. so much has been going on.. pardon my long silence.. been trying to catch up and manage my baking and family, work and other stuff.. its been fun and i've learnt much..

Kick start February with my birthday.. yup, turned 36 this year.. i fell sick, had fever and bad flu.. buuhuuu..
This year, my birthday falls on 2nd day of CNY, so the looooonngggg weekend holiday.. BUT as everyone is at home or having a getaway holiday, i was stuck in the office finishing up work, despite being sick.. anyways, thank you to my hubs & asyraf for their patience waiting for me at work during the holidays. :-) luv u guys lots..

Birthday cake..
I wished to make my very own birthday cake.. But as i was not well and needed to go to work during the holidays, i only managed to bake my birthday cake on the very last day of holiday.. Oh well, at least i can share it with my fellow colleagues the next day. hehehe.. Devil's Food Cake was my dream.. Hubs got me a pack of Maltesers the other day, and i saved it for this particular cake..

The looks were hmm, not so nice.. hehe.. But once u ate it, u'll gonna love it.. At least that's what my colleagues told me.. Glad they loved it.. Hubs is not a dessert person, so i always share my sweet tooth cravings with my friends and families.. Recipe was from AzlitaMasam Manis . Try 'em.. I omitted the cream cheese frosting.. Dun have the feel for cheese at the time..

A little improvement..

My cheesecake brownies has been getting a positive response thus far.. alhamdulillah.. who knows, we (hb & me) came across this recipe on the internet, gave it a try and turns out to be a hit.. well, amongst my friends that is.. well.. its a start.. and a good start too..

So after a few deliveries, i had some suggestions to improve my plain looking cheesecake brownies.. experimenting with melted chocolate, i made a few lines and took a skewer to play with d choc.. i must say i was a little excited.. so was hb.. hihihihiii..

Now here are amongst the first decorated cheesecake brownies.. i'm still experimenting of course..

NEW YEAR, NEW ADVENTURE

its 2014 and I am starting my new adventure.. yupp.. supplying home made brownies and cakes.. well, at the moment I focus on brownies.. cakes will come later.. I have much to learn..
